India's Avinash Sable finished 11th in the men's 3000m steeplechase final at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Wednesday. Sable clocked 8:14.18 at the Stade de France.

Initially positioned fourth after 1000m, Sable fell behind the leading pack and ultimately finished outside the top 10. Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco defended his Olympic title with a season-best time of 8:06.05, while USA's Kenneth Brooks took silver with a personal best of 8:06.41. Kenya's Abraham Kibiwot earned the bronze.

In previous rounds, Sable secured his spot in the final by finishing fifth in Heat 2. During the heat, Kenya's Abraham Kibiwot was Sable's closest competitor in the first 1000m. However, a stumble over a hurdle saw Sable drop to the fifth spot, clocking 8:15.43 seconds.

In Heat 1, Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali led with 8:17.90 seconds, followed by qualifiers from Uganda, Ethiopia, Spain, and Tunisia. Kenya's Amos Serem, despite winning the national trials, finished sixth after an error at the water jump, failing to reach the final.
