Nethra Kumanan Falls Short in Paris Olympic Sailing Qualifiers
India's top woman sailor, Nethra Kumanan, finished 21st in the ninth qualifying race of the individual Dinghy event at the Paris Olympics. Despite some improvement, she was unable to make it to the medal round, marking her second consecutive failure to progress in the competition.
Nethra Kumanan, India's most celebrated female sailor, finished 21st after the ninth qualifying race in the individual Dinghy event at the Paris Olympics on Monday. Although ten races were planned, the final race was canceled due to bad weather, leaving Kumanan out of the medal contention.
Only competitors in the top 10 after qualifying rounds advance to the medal race. Kumanan improved her ranking from 24th to 21st after finishing 10th in the ninth race among 43 participants. Her performance ranged from a sixth-place finish in the first race to a disappointing 31st in the eighth race, making it difficult for her to stay in the top 10.
This marks the second consecutive time that the 26-year-old sailor has failed to progress to the medal round at the Olympics, despite her promising start in earlier races.
