In a stunning display of speed and agility, the United States' Noah Lyles clinched the gold medal in the men's 100m final at the Paris Olympics. Lyles delivered his personal best, thrilling a packed Stade de France crowd.

In one of the closest races in Olympic history, milliseconds separated the gold and silver medalists. Clocking in at 9.784 seconds, Lyles narrowly missed Usain Bolt's record but still emerged victorious, becoming the fastest man in the 100m event.

Jamaica's Kishane Thompson took silver, just a fraction of a second behind, while U.S. sprinter Fred Kerley claimed bronze with a season-best time of 9.81s. The tight competition saw all eight sprinters finishing within tiny margins.

Upon confirmation of his win, the stadium erupted, and Lyles celebrated by ripping his name from his shirt and holding it high. South Africa's Akane Simbine finished fourth, continuing his run of near-misses at the Olympic podium.

Lyles, who also won the 100m and 200m at last year's World Championships, now aims for double gold in Paris with the 200m event next in his sights.
