Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia shattered the lap record in the final moments of the second qualifying, securing his second pole position of the season at the British Grand Prix on Saturday. Twice MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia finished in second place.

Ducati's Bagnaia was on track to take pole with a blazing lap but was overtaken by Espargaro's late surge. Espargaro, who announced he'll retire at the end of the 2024 season, made a remarkable showing.

Enea Bastianini of Ducati secured third place, with championship contender Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing, set to switch to Aprilia in 2025, coming in fourth. Six-times MotoGP champion Marc Marquez of Gresini Racing finished seventh.
