Manu Bhaker's Narrow Miss: A Dream Treble Slips Away at Olympic Games
Manu Bhaker narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the women's 25m sports pistol event at the Olympic Games, losing to Hungarian Veronika Major in a tie-shoot. Despite her stellar performance, Bhaker ultimately finished fourth, but will return home with two bronze medals in other events.
Manu Bhaker's aspirations for a treble at the Olympic Games were shattered after losing a nail-biting tie-shoot for the bronze medal to Hungarian Veronika Major in the women's 25m sports pistol event on Saturday.
Despite her valiant efforts placing her briefly at the top among eight shooters, Bhaker couldn't maintain her form and concluded fourth. Still, the 22-year-old marksman will head back with two bronze medals in women's 10m air pistol and mixed team 10m air pistol alongside Sarabjot Singh.
The high-stakes final saw Bhaker score 28 points to tie for third place after the eighth series, but she fell short in the tie-breaking shoot-off, hitting three targets compared to Veronika's four. Bhaker's dream of a hat-trick of medals may have faltered, but she remains determined for the future.
