Controversy Mars Paris Olympics Women's Boxing Quarter-Finals
The Hungarian Boxing Association is protesting against Anna Luca Hamori's quarter-final match with Imane Khelif at the Paris Olympics, citing past disqualification issues. Despite protests, Hamori will fight Khelif. The association considers legal action, while Italian PM Meloni and IOC's Bach discussed future evaluations of the issue.
The Hungarian Boxing Association has announced plans to lodge formal protests with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Hungary's Olympic committee over Anna Luca Hamori's upcoming quarter-final bout with Algeria's Imane Khelif in women's boxing at the Paris Olympics.
The association is also considering legal actions to challenge Khelif's eligibility, following her previous disqualification from the International Boxing Association (IBA) world championships over gender eligibility tests. Hamori, however, remains undeterred and will proceed with her match.
Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni met with IOC President Thomas Bach to discuss the issue, expressing that the competition was unfair. Their agreement ensures ongoing evaluation and cooperation to resolve the situation.
