Coco Gauff Stumbles at Paris Olympics with Back-to-Back Defeats
Coco Gauff, despite being a prominent tennis star, faced two consecutive defeats at the Paris Olympics. Alongside Jessica Pegula, the top-seeded women's doubles team, she lost to the Czech duo Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova. These losses follow her early singles exit against Donna Vekic of Croatia.
Coco Gauff faced another setback at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday, losing in women's doubles just a day after her tearful singles defeat.
Gauff and her US partner, Jessica Pegula, were the top-seeded women's duo but were eliminated in the second round by the Czech pair Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5, in a match tiebreaker.
On Tuesday, Gauff was ousted by Croatia's Donna Vekic in straight sets in the third round of singles. The American, seeded second, entered into a dispute with the chair umpire over an officiating call near the end of the match.
Despite these setbacks, Gauff remains in the competition, aiming for a medal in mixed doubles alongside Taylor Fritz later on Wednesday.
