Erling Haaland's Pre-Season Setback: Muscle Discomfort Strikes Manchester City Forward
Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has been struggling with muscle discomfort, prompting manager Pep Guardiola to substitute him at half-time in two consecutive pre-season matches. This precautionary measure aims to prevent further injury, although City face a challenging schedule with upcoming matches against Manchester United and Chelsea.
Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has been experiencing muscle discomfort, according to manager Pep Guardiola, leading to his substitution at half-time in two consecutive pre-season matches in the United States.
City's most recent pre-season outing saw them beaten 4-1 on penalties by Barcelona after a 2-2 draw in Florida. Haaland was also replaced at half-time during a 3-2 loss to AC Milan in New York.
'He's got some niggles. He didn't feel good,' Guardiola said late on Tuesday. 'Muscular niggles are not worth the risk. Sooner or later he has to take a step. To lose him for three weeks would be a problem as 60-70% of the squad are on holiday.' The Premier League champions are set to face Manchester United in the Community Shield on August 10 and will begin their title defence against Chelsea on August 18.
