Following Manu Bhaker's historic bronze in the women's 10 m air pistol event, Indian shooters Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta are set to compete in the final round of the 10 m air rifle events on Monday. Bhaker's win marks India's first-ever shooting medal by a woman.
On Sunday, Ramita advanced to the final of the women's 10 m air rifle event after securing fifth place in the qualification round, while Arjun Babuta finished seventh in the men's category. The top eight qualifiers from each event progressed to the finals, as per Olympics.com.
Ramita achieved a score of 631.5, positioning her for Monday's final. Conversely, Elavenil Valarivan faced disappointment after finishing outside the top four in the mixed team event alongside Sandeep Singh, securing only 626.3 points.
Arjun Babuta, hailing from Chandigarh, scored a total of 630.1 points, earning him a place in the final. Babuta is determined to bring home an Olympic medal, following a close miss in the mixed team event with Ramita Jindal.
Manu Bhaker's bronze was a moment of redemption after her pistol malfunctioned at the Tokyo Olympics. South Korea's Ye Jin and Kim Yeji claimed the gold and silver medals, respectively.
