Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and a trio of other track and field Olympians have etched their names into the annals of sports history with new world records.

World Athletics confirmed on Saturday that these records, set earlier this year, have been officially ratified following routine reviews.

McLaughlin-Levrone set a new 400-meter hurdles record at 50.65 seconds during the US Olympic trials last month. Pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis from Sweden set a new mark with a jump of 6.24 meters, breaking the previous record for the eighth time.

Kenyan distance runner Faith Kipyegon achieved a new 1,500-meter record at 3 minutes, 49.04 seconds on July 7. Lithuania's Mykolas Alekna set a new discus throw record with a throw of 74.35 meters, surpassing a nearly 38-year-old record.
