England Test captain Ben Stokes has emphasized the importance of incorporating player feedback into the international cricket scheduling process. His comments come amid rising concerns about the demanding mix of international and franchise cricket, which has significantly complicated players' lives.
Speaking to the media ahead of the third Test against the West Indies at Edgbaston, Stokes noted, "It (hectic schedules) is something that does need to be addressed. Who knows what international cricket is going to look like, with all the franchise stuff that is going on as well," Stokes told ESPNCricinfo. "The landscape is constantly changing. I do not think anyone can put their hand on their heart and say they know what cricket is going to look like in even two years' time."
The England captain suggested that the Future Tours Programme (FTP) could benefit from direct input from players such as himself and Jos Buttler. England's grueling upcoming schedule includes series against Sri Lanka, Australia, Pakistan, West Indies, New Zealand, and a tour of India leading up to the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. England aims to improve their World Test Championship standings, where they recently moved up to sixth place after a victory against the West Indies.
