Two-time Olympic tennis gold medalist Andy Murray, 37, has withdrawn from singles at the Paris Games and will compete only in doubles with Dan Evans. Murray announced this will be his final career event.

Murray has faced numerous injuries, including a 2019 hip replacement and spinal cyst surgery just last month. After withdrawing from singles at Wimbledon, he played one doubles match with his brother, Jamie.

"I've decided to withdraw from singles to focus on doubles with Dan. Our practice sessions have been excellent, and we're in good form," Murray stated. "Excited to represent GB one last time." The announcement preceded the Olympic tennis tournament draw, with play commencing Saturday. Murray is the only tennis player to have won two Olympic singles gold medals, achieved at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
