Holger Rune has officially withdrawn from the Paris Olympics due to a wrist injury, the 21-year-old Dane announced on Wednesday. Ranked 16th globally, Rune was eager to make his Olympic debut.

In a message on X, Rune expressed his disappointment, stating, "I am really sorry that I will be unable to play the Olympics. It's something I've been looking forward to playing and being a part of." Rune revealed that he has been playing through wrist pain across both the clay and grass seasons and must now heed medical advice.

Just last week, Rune was competing in Hamburg, Germany, but retired from his quarter-final match against Arthur Fils of France while trailing 6-4 4-1, signaling that his condition had worsened.
