India's newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir on Monday clarified his relationship with batting mainstay Virat Kohli, stating that it is a personal matter and not for public spectacle. Gambhir and Kohli have had well-documented confrontations in the IPL, but they will now join forces for the T20 and ODI tour of Sri Lanka starting July 27.

Speaking about his dynamic with Kohli, Gambhir said, "My relationship with Virat Kohli is between the two of us and not for TRP." He added that everyone has the right to fight for their jersey, underscoring their professional collaboration.

With senior players Rohit Sharma and Kohli stepping back from T20 Internationals after India's recent T20 World Cup victory, Gambhir pointed out the importance of managing the workload for players like Jasprit Bumrah. He expects Sharma and Kohli to remain available for the other formats they play.
