Indian Athletes Shine at Warszawskie Zawody Lekkoatletyczne 2024 Athletics Meet

Reigning Asian Games champion Annu Rani and Rajesh Ramesh triumphed in their respective events, while Jyothi Yarraji dominated the qualifiers at the Warszawskie Zawody Lekkoatletyczne 2024 athletics meet held in Poland on Saturday. Annu, 31, threw 58.70 metres to defeat Poland's Amelia Bielak, whose best attempt was 35.35 metres.
Annu's notable achievements include holding the women's javelin national record at 63.82 metres, with her best throw this year being 60.68 metres. Meanwhile, Yarraji clocked 13.29 seconds to lead the women's 100m hurdles qualifiers but opted out of the final.
Rajesh Ramesh recorded a season-best 45.54 seconds to win the men's 400m race, surpassing compatriots Muhammed Ajmal and Muhammed Anas Yahiya. Jyothika Sri Dandi clinched first place in the women's 400m with a time of 52.32 seconds.
All Indian athletes participating in Warsaw are set to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics. They have been training at the Olympic Sports Centre in Spala, Poland, in preparation for the Summer Games. The 29-member team, including Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, will assemble in Paris on July 28, with track and field events beginning on August 1.
