Spaniard Manolo Marquez, currently in charge of Indian Super League side FC Goa, has been named the head coach of the Indian men's football team, replacing Igor Stimac, who was sacked earlier. The decision was taken by the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) executive committee on Saturday.

Marquez will manage the national team as well as continue his role at FC Goa during the 2024-25 season before fully assuming the national coaching duties. The AIFF confirmed his appointment but did not disclose the tenure of his contract.

Marquez expressed his gratitude to FC Goa and AIFF for the opportunity. AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey emphasized close collaboration between the federation, the club, and Marquez to ensure a seamless transition.
