Suryakumar Yadav's appointment as India's new T20I captain for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka has brought immense joy to his childhood coach, Ashok Aswalkar. Aswalkar expressed his delight after the announcement, emphasizing Yadav's significant achievements in his career.

This decision follows Rohit Sharma's retirement from T20I cricket in the wake of India's victory in the T20 World Cup. Yadav had previously led the Indian side to a 4-1 series triumph against Australia last year and a 1-1 series draw against South Africa earlier this year.

The T20I series is set to commence on July 27 in Pallekele, with three ODIs starting in Colombo on August 2. Shubman Gill has been named as Yadav's deputy, while star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is also included in the squad but will not feature in the leadership hierarchy.
