Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev has urged Indian athletes bound for the upcoming Olympics to perform without fear. Speaking on Wednesday, Dev expressed hope that India could achieve a double-digit medal tally, surpassing the seven medals won in Tokyo. India's contingent for Paris includes 117 athletes.

'I can't really say for anybody but I can just wish them all the luck and hope we should win more medals this year and that's important,' said Dev, who is also the president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). He advised athletes to 'go and express yourself,' adding his belief that a double-digit medal haul is possible.

Additionally, Dev refrained from commenting on Indian cricket and newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir but extended his best wishes to Gambhir and the team. Dev also discussed the prospects of golf in India, particularly under the initiative of the Trinity Golf Champions League (TGCL), which has expanded to include eight teams this year, including an international team from Sri Lanka.
