India captain Rohit Sharma has confirmed that he will continue to play Test and ODI cricket following his recent retirement from T20 internationals after securing a World Cup win.
Rohit, who has been on a break since clinching the title in the West Indies, was rested from the recent T20 series against Zimbabwe and will also miss the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka later this month.
During an event on Sunday night, the 37-year-old stated, 'I just said it. I don't look that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play at least for a while.'
Earlier this month, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Rohit will lead India in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle and the upcoming Champions Trophy next year.
Rohit had captained India in the 2022 T20 World Cup, where the team was ousted in the semifinals by England. Under his leadership, India reached the final of the 50-over World Cup at home but lost to Australia in the final at Ahmedabad.
Rohit ended his T20 international career with a remarkable 4231 runs from 159 matches, including five centuries and 32 half-centuries.
