Spanish attacker Lamine Yamal has etched his name in football history by becoming the youngest male footballer to play in a major international tournament final. At just 17 years and 1 day old, Yamal was included in the starting lineup for the EURO 2024 final where Spain is set to face England at Olympiastadion Berlin.

Yamal's achievement surpasses the record held by legendary footballer Pele, who was 17 years and 249 days old when he played in the 1958 World Cup final, leading Brazil to a 5-2 victory over Sweden. Yamal's participation in such a critical match brings a fresh spotlight to young talent in the sport.

Spain secured their place in the final after defeating France 2-1 in the semi-finals. England, on the other hand, clinched their spot by overcoming the Netherlands with a 2-1 victory, thanks to a late goal by Ollie Watkins. This marks a historic moment for England, as they play a major tournament final on foreign soil for the first time, edging closer to ending their 58-year drought without a major tournament win.

In their previous semi-final match, England faced early challenges when Xavi Simons gave the Netherlands an early lead. However, Harry Kane quickly equalized in the 18th minute, and Ollie Watkins secured the winning goal in added time of the second half. England now looks to avenge their EURO 2020 final defeat against Italy and make history of their own.
