Surrey Cricket has paid tribute to England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt by naming a stadium gate at The Oval after her, honoring her success as captain of the Surrey Stars. 'Surrey have today named a gate in honour of Nat Sciver-Brunt, in recognition of her 2018 Kia Super League success as captain of the Surrey Stars,' a release announced.

Sciver-Brunt was accompanied by friends, family, and staff from Surrey CCC and the Kia Oval during the ceremony. The newly named Sciver-Brunt Gate, situated at the Pavilion End near the Club Shop, will debut as England faces New Zealand in the fourth Women's IT20 match of the series on Saturday. This marks only the second gate at a major international venue in the country to commemorate a female cricketer.

The gate dedication continues a tradition at The Oval of naming gates after victorious captains. Sciver-Brunt joins the ranks of Stuart Surridge, Alec Stewart, and Ben Hollioake. Shejoined the Surrey pathway at the Under 14 level and debuted for the senior county team at 18. Scoring nearly 2,500 runs at an average of over 40 alongside more than 50 wickets, Sciver-Brunt has been prolific for the county.

The inception of the Super League in 2016 saw Sciver-Brunt lead the Surrey Stars as captain. Her contributions, including 930 runs at an average just under 45 and 32 wickets at an average under 35, culminated in a 2018 championship victory against the Loughborough Lightning. Reflecting on the honor, Nat Sciver-Brunt said, 'It is an absolute honour, I never thought I would see the name Sciver up there on a gate at the Oval! Having started at Surrey at 13 years old, I would absolutely pinch myself if I knew this would be happening.'

Steve Elworthy, Chief Executive at Surrey Cricket, commented, 'Nat has had a truly outstanding career so far and we are all hugely proud of her achievements. She led the Surrey Stars with distinction and it is a pleasure to recognize Nat by naming a gate after her.' He added, 'She is an inspiring role model with a long-lasting impact on both Surrey cricket and at the international level.'

Sciver, one of the most decorated stars in English cricket history, has made significant contributions, with 649 runs and 11 wickets in 10 Tests, 3,676 runs and 76 wickets in 109 ODIs, and 2,480 runs and 86 wickets in 120 T20Is.
