Grit and Grace: Palestinian Girls Box On Amid Gaza Conflict

Despite widespread destruction of sports facilities in Gaza, coach Osama Ayoub remains undeterred, training Palestinian girls in boxing at a tent camp. Without proper equipment, the girls use mattresses and pillows, but Ayoub believes the training has bolstered their courage and confidence.

'They started going out on the street. They started going out at night. Their personalities became much stronger,' Ayoub stated. This improvisational training regime has empowered the girls amidst the ongoing conflict and instability in Gaza.

However, the risks are high. A recent Israeli missile attack on a tent encampment football match underscored the dangers. Despite these challenges, the girls dream of competing internationally. 'We do not have clips, gloves, teeth protection, but we want to continue until we achieve our dream and end the war,' said Ayoub.
