The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to keep Nida Dar as the captain of the national women's cricket team for the highly-anticipated Asia Cup, set to take place in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from July 19 to 28.

Despite Pakistan's poor performance in the recent ODI and T20 series against England under Dar's leadership, the PCB has opted to retain her as captain for this crucial regional event, which includes matches against arch-rival India.

In preparation for the Asia Cup, the squad has seen significant changes. Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar have been dropped, with Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, Syeda Aroob Shah, and Tasmia Rubab stepping in.

Three players, Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, and Syeda Aroob Shah, are making a comeback after last playing T20 internationals in 2023. Notably, Tasmia Rubab, a 22-year-old left-arm fast bowler, is the only uncapped player in the squad.

The PCB also announced a new head coach, Muhammad Wasim, and support staff, including Abdul Rehman and Junaid Khan. The selected players will undergo a training camp in Karachi from July 5 until their departure on July 16. The management team includes Hina Munawar as team manager, Rabia Siddiq as physiotherapist, and Waleed Ahmed as analyst.
