Hungary forward Barnabás Varga, who recently suffered facial fractures during a European Championship match, has been discharged from the hospital and is now back in his home country.

Varga returned to Hungary on Wednesday, while his teammates remained in Germany, hoping to progress to the round of 16 as one of the top third-place teams.

His club, Ferencváros, celebrated his return by posting a picture on X with the caption, 'Barnabás is back at home!'

The injury occurred midway through the second half of Sunday's match against Scotland, where Varga collided with goalkeeper Angus Gunn. Hungary secured a 1-0 victory with a late goal from substitute Kevin Csoboth.

In distressing scenes, the match was paused for nearly 10 minutes to administer medical treatment to Varga, who was eventually taken to a Stuttgart hospital where he underwent surgery.

Hungary's coach Marco Rossi, along with some staff members and teammate Endre Botka, visited Varga in the hospital to offer support.
