Asian Games medallist Anush Agarwalla will make history as the first Indian to compete in the dressage event at the Paris Olympics, the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) announced on Tuesday. Agarwalla edged out close contender Shruti Vora, thanks to a superior average score.

Agarwalla, who earned a gold in team dressage and bronze in individual dressage at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, proved his consistency with four Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) achievements during the qualification period. This easily eclipsed Vora's two MERs.

With an average score of 67.695%, Agarwalla surpassed Vora's 67.163%, following EFI's criteria requiring a minimum of 67% to compete. The decision was unanimously accepted by EFI's executive council, marking a significant milestone in India's equestrian history.
