The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is stepping up its game for the six Indian wrestlers headed to the Paris Olympics. Responding to ace grappler Vinesh Phogat's plea for additional training aid, the national committee and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) have pledged their extensive support.
Among the qualified wrestlers are Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Antim Panghal (53kg), Anshu Malik (57kg), Nisha Dahiya (68kg), and Reetika Hooda (76kg) in the women's category, along with Aman Sehrawat (57kg) in the men's section. IOA President PT Usha emphasized the organization's commitment to ensuring peak performance.
"By providing an extensive support team, we aim to ensure that our wrestlers have access to the best resources, enabling their peak performance," Usha said. The broader support team will feature coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and mental-conditioning experts, among others. This initiative overarches the existing aid provided under the Sports Ministry's Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
