Maharashtra's Environment Minister, Ashish Shelar, has called for an ambitious afforestation project in Aarey Colony, a move reflecting a significant step toward environmental conservation in Mumbai.

During a Monday visit, Shelar directed officials to formulate a plan for planting trees across 65 acres of land in the area, strategically aligning with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' statewide drive to plant 300 crore trees.

This initiative aims to combat rising temperatures and increase forest density, with potential plans to implement Miyawaki-style dense forests. Shelar assessed various government land parcels and urged for detailed reports to optimize available spaces for this crucial endeavor.
