Cuban officials have evacuated over 700,000 people in preparation for Melissa's impact, with a Category 4 storm warning issued for several provinces. The US National Hurricane Center reports the storm's sustained winds at 215 kph, threatening severe rain and a significant storm surge in affected areas.
The Caribbean has already seen extensive devastation, with seven fatalities reported and infrastructure heavily damaged. As the storm approaches, regional governments mobilize resources for emergency relief and recovery efforts.
