A fire erupted Thursday evening in the Annapurana Girls Hostel in Greater Noida following an air conditioning compressor explosion, according to Noida Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar.

The incident injured one student, who was promptly hospitalized and reported to be in improved condition.

Firefighters rapidly contained the blaze, although panic ensued as smoke engulfed the building. Videos surface online show a dramatic rescue attempt involving a ladder, during which one student fell and sustained injuries.
