Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated a model township project on Thursday, aimed at rehabilitating the victims of the devastating landslide in Wayanad, despite limited financial support from the federal government. The project symbolizes resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
Addressing the gathering, CM Vijayan criticized the federal government for providing only a minimal loan of Rs 529.50 crore, far short of the Rs 2,000 crore requested for rehabilitation efforts. He emphasized that the state's initiative stands as an exemplar globally, showcasing the humanitarian spirit of Kerala's people.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra commended the state's efforts, calling the project a beacon of hope for landslide victims. She underscored the vital role of community solidarity in overcoming the disaster and urged continued attention to the victims' needs, including those not yet covered under assistance programs.
