The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has issued a directive to traders and shopkeepers across key commercial areas, including Khan Market and Connaught Place, mandating that all signage boards comply with the Outdoor Advertisement Policy, 2017. The move comes as part of efforts to regulate advertising practices and maintain urban aesthetics.

Traders were notified of the new requirements, which stipulate that signage must not exceed the shop's length and must have a surface area of no more than 2.5 square metres. Strict restrictions include the prohibition of illuminated signs facing residential zones on narrow streets and adherence to traffic safety measures.

The NDMC notice also highlights that signage must not obstruct pedestrian pathways or emergency exits and must not convey unrelated business promotions. The policy aims to enhance city aesthetics while avoiding potential safety hazards tied to distracting signage.
