The Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation (BNMC) in Maharashtra's Thane district has approved an ambitious Rs 1,097.49 crore budget for the financial year 2025-26, focusing on city development and infrastructure enhancements.

Municipal commissioner Anmol Sagar, acting as administrator due to the end of the corporators' term, ratified the budget on Monday, emphasizing a balanced strategy for revenue generation and developmental projects. The civic body aims to improve urban living standards, infrastructure, and civic amenities while seeking funds through corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and a robust 100-day action plan.

The corporation's budget outlines expected revenue sources, such as Rs 398.78 crore from GST, Rs 97.96 crore in property and water taxes, a Rs 15.30 crore development fund, and an additional Rs 90.37 crore from other sources. Significant allocations have been made to the tune of Rs 201.43 crore for water supply, Rs 108.82 crore for public works, Rs 38.69 crore for health, and Rs 2.05 crore for garden maintenance.
Efforts to boost income include intensifying property tax collections. The healthcare sector sees new outpatient services at BGP Hospital and plans for better facilities. In education, digital classrooms are in the works with government aid.
