In a dramatic incident, a truck carrying cooking gas cylinders caught fire and exploded on Monday in Dharavi, Mumbai's largest slum, where a massive population resides in often hazardous conditions. The explosion, however, resulted in no injuries, as confirmed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The blaze was contained within the truck, as witness accounts described multiple blasts with large plumes of smoke. Fire services and ambulances swiftly responded to control the situation, ensuring public safety in the densely populated area.
The incident took place near the Dharavi Bus Depot, drawing onlookers who observed the thick fumes. Known for its representation in 'Slumdog Millionaire,' Dharavi remains one of Asia's largest slums, covering 240 hectares near Mumbai's airport.
