In a significant development, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to fast-track the operation to rescue seven individuals trapped inside a partially collapsed SLBC tunnel in Nagarkurnool district.

During a high-level meeting, Reddy issued instructions for IAS officer Shivashankar Lotheti to be appointed to supervise the ongoing search operations. He further requested Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to expedite the necessary orders, according to an official press release.

Despite continuous dewatering and soil removal efforts at locations 'D1, D2', the search teams comprising of NDRF, Telangana SDRF, South Central Railway, and Singareni Collieries Corporation Limited, face challenges due to obstructing broken parts of a Tunnel Boring Machine. The operation, which began on February 22, aims to locate the remaining seven trapped workers after the recovery of a TBM operator's body last month.
