A rare sighting of a crocodile on the IIT Bombay campus has captured the community's attention and raised wildlife safety concerns.

The large reptile, reportedly moving out from the Powai Lake, was discovered resting on a campus road on Sunday night. According to Pawan Sharma, the founder of RAWW and an honorary wildlife warden, such an occurrence is highly unusual as crocodiles typically remain within lake boundaries.

Local residents and officials ensured the safety of both the animal and the public, with the crocodile eventually returning to the lake on its own. Authorities from the Mumbai Range of Thane Territorial Wing are monitoring the situation, advising caution and awareness in areas where crocodiles might frequent.
