Kempegowda Airport Unveils India's First Sensory Room for Neurodivergent Travelers
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has introduced India's first sensory room at an airport for neurodivergent passengers. Located at Terminal 2, the room aims to provide a calming experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities, enhancing their travel experience through innovative, inclusive features and collaborations with organizations like Incluzza of EnAble India group.

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has taken a significant step toward inclusive travel by unveiling India's first sensory room tailored for neurodivergent passengers. Strategically positioned at Terminal 2 near the international lounge, this facility aims to alleviate travel anxiety for individuals with sensory sensitivities.
Hari Marar, Managing Director and CEO of BIAL, expressed the airport's commitment to inclusivity and innovation, enhancing passenger experiences through biophilic designs and digital solutions. The sensory room addresses challenges posed by bright lights, announcements, and crowded spaces, benefiting travelers with Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, PTSD, and other sensory conditions.
The project, a collaboration with Incluzza of EnAble India group, features diverse ambient lighting, such as bubble tubes and galaxy projectors, to offer personalized sensory input. Dipesh Sutariya of EnAble India praised BIAL's proactive approach to accessibility, expressing hope for more such initiatives nationwide.
