A construction accident turned tragic in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur when a lintel being elevated collapsed, leaving two workers dead and four injured. The mishap unfolded in the Dikka Kala area on Saturday, as reported by the police.
A dozen workers were engaged in lifting the lintel in an old house when the collapse led to several being trapped under debris. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain told PTI that the accident was due to the old wall slipping, which led to the lintel's failure.
Immediate rescue operations ensued; however, Shahjad, 28, and Rajendra, 23, succumbed to their injuries at a primary health centre. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, as authorities investigate the incident further.
