In the aftermath of the December 2022 MCD elections, hopes for improved living conditions rose among Bhalswa Village's residents, living in the shadows of a massive landfill. However, over two years later, the community still grapples with appalling living conditions and health concerns.

Promises of change made by both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the elections have not materialized, leaving residents like Ankit Kumar disillusioned. Despite minor improvements, like a new water pipeline, substantial transformation remains out of sight.

Highlighting a dire need for intervention, environmentalist Bhavreen Kandhari pointed to the devastating environmental and health risks the community faces. As yet another election approaches, Bhalswa's residents remain wary, demanding tangible action from the authorities to alleviate their struggles.
