A young male leopard was captured in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district following a swift operation coordinated by the forest department. The leopard was spotted in Mubarakpur village, prompting an immediate response from rescue teams.
Divisional Forest Officer Rajesh Kumar reported that on Friday, villagers informed authorities about the leopard's presence in a local field. Rescue teams, guided by Regional Forest Officers Ravi Kant and Khushboo Upadhyay, responded promptly, developing a capture plan based on Standard Operating Procedures.
The operation, lasting two and a half hours, was successful, and the leopard, approximately two years old, is set to undergo medical examination. This capture follows a previous sighting in Rithani, underscoring the need for local vigilance.
