Maharashtra is set to revolutionize its infrastructure management by assigning a unique identification number to each project. This move aims to eliminate duplication and enhance coordination among various agencies and departments, according to a recent announcement by the state government.
The initiative was endorsed during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The new system is akin to the Aadhaar system utilized for personal identification, intended to streamline how infrastructure projects are managed.
Fadnavis highlighted the frequent issue of multiple departments working on the same project, resulting in inefficiencies and duplicate billing. The unique IDs will be integrated with the PM Gati Shakti scheme to ensure synchronized operations across departments.
