This winter, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is stepping up efforts to provide the homeless with well-rounded meals, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition amid harsh weather. The meals feature protein-rich soy-based dishes and diverse lentils.
Accommodations include mattresses, blankets, and necessary health services. Permanent shelters are equipped with geysers for hot water, offering a reprieve from the biting cold. The initiative has provided refuge to over 7,000 individuals in 197 shelters citywide.
Driven by extreme weather, rescue teams have relocated more than 4,400 people. November saw the rescue of 621 individuals, with a significant uptick in December. The 'Rain Basera' app aids in locating and assisting those in dire need, reflecting DUSIB's coordinated efforts to provide relief and safety.
