The Kerala government has unveiled a comprehensive rehabilitation plan aimed at revitalizing the lives of survivors affected by the catastrophic landslides in Wayanad district last July, which claimed over 200 lives.
The project involves constructing two townships in Kalpetta and Kottappady, complete with housing, schools, health centers, and livelihood opportunities for affected families.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized the importance of sustainable living environments, mentioning that the project would integrate various sectors like agriculture and entrepreneurship to ensure a holistic rehabilitation. Despite challenges in land acquisition, the government remains committed to supporting the survivors.
