India is bracing for warmer-than-normal temperatures this January, with exceptions in eastern, northwest, and west-central regions, according to a forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra revealed through a virtual press briefing that maximum temperatures are similarly expected to rise, except in parts of northwest, central, and eastern India, along with some central areas of the southern peninsula.
The IMD warns of fewer rainfalls in North India during January to March, potentially hindering rabi crops like wheat and barley, which rely on winter rainfall for growth and success.
