An official reported that a significant collection of Rs 89.19 lakh was gathered in fines through e-challans. The drive commenced on New Year's Eve and continued into early Wednesday.
The crackdown targeted infractions such as drunk driving, obstructing traffic flow, not wearing helmets on motorbikes, jumping signals, and entering one-way roads incorrectly. Additional fines were levied for exceeding speed limits, driving four-wheelers without seat belts, and using mobile phones while driving, according to the traffic police.
As celebrations unfolded at key Mumbai landmarks like the Gateway of India and Marine Drive, the city ramped up security to avert any potential incidents. The vigilant efforts ensured a safer environment for revellers during the festive period.
