The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy rainfall in various parts of Andhra Pradesh due to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal. The rains are expected to span three days, from December 18 to 20.

On Wednesday, isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), and Rayalaseema are anticipated to experience severe weather, including thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.

The low-pressure area, associated with a cyclonic circulation reaching up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, is well-marked and is predicted to move northwest toward the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts over the next 24 hours, and subsequently along the Andhra Pradesh coast.
