Tragedy in Mumbai: Toddler's Fatal Fall into Drain

An 18-month-old boy in Mumbai's Bhandup area has died after accidentally falling into an open drain. The incident occurred on Sunday evening near Mourya Hall, with an accidental death having been reported as police launch further investigations into the tragedy.

An 18-month-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into an uncovered drain, known locally as a 'nullah', in the Bhandup area of Mumbai. The incident occurred at 6:20 pm on Sunday, near Mourya Hall on Gaondevi Road, according to a civic official.

Krishna Omprakash Gupta, the young victim, was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital after being pulled from the drain. Tragically, doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival. It was revealed that the drain, typically open, had been covered in some areas by residents, including the toddler's family, leaving a small opening to flush out wastewater.

The child fell through this narrow gap, the official added. Bhandup police have registered an accidental death report and are conducting a detailed investigation into this unfortunate incident.
