A bus accident in Sri Lanka involving university students on a field trip turned fatal on Friday, killing two and injuring 39 others, officials revealed. The crash unfolded as the vehicle skidded on a curve near Badulla in the mountainous tea region, situated 330 kilometers from Colombo.
Television footage from Derana network depicted local residents aiding health workers in rescuing the injured from the overturned bus. Law enforcement reported that the driver lost control, leading to the calamitous incident.
Medical personnel confirmed that 39 students, six critically injured, were hospitalized in Badulla, with two declared deceased. Reckless driving and poorly maintained roads often contribute to deadly bus accidents in Sri Lanka.
