Odisha's Push for Sustainable Urban Mobility: New Electric Buses and More
The Odisha government has taken steps to enhance urban mobility by introducing 12 new electric buses under its 'Mo Bus' service. The initiative is part of the Viksit Odisha vision and includes the implementation of advanced ticket vending machines to streamline ticketing and introduce smart services.

Odisha's government is ramping up efforts to improve urban transportation with the launch of 12 new electric buses under the 'Mo Bus' initiative. This move was announced by Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra during a ceremony on Wednesday.
The new buses are part of a broader strategy to create a sustainable urban transport system in line with the Viksit Odisha vision. Of the total 475 buses in the state, 95 now run on electricity, covering 97 routes. The government has also introduced Automatic Ticket Vending Machines at key transit hubs to ease the ticketing process for passengers.
The minister unveiled new bus routes to improve connectivity and introduced the 'Odisha Yatri' app to enhance driver empowerment and passenger experience. The app will operate without any commission charges, indicating a push towards zero-cost solutions for commuters.
