Currently located 350 kilometers east of Cagayan province, Kong-rey boasts sustained winds of 185 kph, with predictions of further strengthening. Local officials are scrambling to evacuate citizens and ensure public safety in anticipation of severe impacts.
In response to the impending threat, the government is taking no chances. Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. has mandated forced evacuations in high-risk zones, stressing the importance of minimizing casualties. Meanwhile, China also grapples with flooding and evacuations caused by related weather patterns.
