The World Food Programme (WFP) issued a stark warning on Tuesday about the growing risk of famine in the Gaza Strip, urging swift and decisive action to alleviate a burgeoning humanitarian crisis.
Current severe restrictions on aid flows have aggravated the situation, with WFP stressing that unless conditions improve, the already dire situation in northern Gaza may expand to affect even more people. WFP calls for opening more crossing points and ensuring the safety of aid deliveries.
Earlier this month, a global monitor reported that the entire Gaza Strip remains at risk of famine, with parts of the territory experiencing emergency levels of hunger.
